NORDICA / BUSHY pro-model

I teamed up with Nordica to design their first ever pro model for Rory Bushfield. I worked closely with Rory and creative director Rich Morin to develop a graphic that told Bushy's story. All the elements of the ski are inspired by the things Rory loves. Most importantly, it is in memory of his wife Sarah Burke who tragically past away in January 2012, after a fatal ski accident while training in the superpipe at Park City, Utah. The ski is set to release for the 2013-14 season.

CASA MURILO

This extensive artwork package was completed over the course of several months. I set out to create an individual piece of artwork for every song on the album. The end result was an album that had a cohesive look and feel and told the story of the album. The artwork was also utilized for the for the album release concert at Rockefeller using several screens and doing a live VJ set for the show. Album is available now on iTunes, Spotify and stores near you. www.casamurilo.com more images on www.theshallowtree.com

GRANS

For this really fun project I worked with the Agency FRANK in Oslo, to create a new beer label for the Norwegian Brewery Grans. The concept was to bring back the traditional approach of hand drawing from earlier era's for the relaunch of their Christmas beer. The entire label including type was drawn out as one piece.

"HOMAGE TO HOLLYWOOD" exhibition

Today we bid a 1st class farewell to "Mickey" & "Kermit". These two original ink drawings were created for the "Homage to Hollywood" group exhibition @ 19KAREN Contemporary Artspace, in Australia. opening December 1st, 2012. Artist Statement: "Mickey" and "Kermit" are a simple commentary on two beloved icons that we have come to know and love through popular culture. On the surface we are overcome by these two lovable characters, the joy they bring us, the associations we make with our childhood, and the message they stand for. We often forget the complexity of the inner workings that have made these two icons possible. The creative talent, production, and hands they have past through to bring them to life. It is neither a negative or positive association, it is for the viewer to decide." - Peter-John de Villiers

19Karen Group Exhibition "Art of Spain"

I will be part of a group exhibition at 19Karen Gallery next month titled "Art of Spain" In 2008, I started a series of master copy drawings that has since grown into a total of over 50 pieces. The aim of the series is to explore the possibilities of expressive line making. There is little regard for composition, proportion, or accuracy, as an abstract weave of aggressive and delicate lines turn the subject matter of "art" into something entirely new. PLOT / Cover Illustration

I had the opportunity to create a cover illustration for PLOT magazine this month. The article "Ølkrigen" (beer wars) is about large Norwegian brewery's buying up small brewery's and monopolizing the market. The illustration is a play on this concept, with the big fish eating the little fish. The issue is out on shelves now, so pick yourself up a copy!

Miles Djupedal de Villiers

On Friday July, 29th my wife Sunniva and I had our first child, a healthy little boy we name Miles. This is truly a life changing experience for both of us! I wish I could describe how incredible this is for us, but I am at a loss for words, partly because it is impossible to put into words, and partly because my brain is not working due to lack of sleep. Happy days!

LIFELINES /// australia

I am very happy to announce that the LIFELINES series will be be traveling to Australia to be exhibited at 19KAREN gallery. I just finished four new pieces, and have posted a section on my site with all the photographs, check it out here. It has been interesting to feel the development of the series while doing these new drawings. There is a natural progression that has brought a more balanced sense of order in the approach, but still maintains a loose chaotic sensibility. Thinking back a year ago when I started the series, and where I am now, this is a quite accurate reflection of my life as well. I am curious to see how the series will continue to develop even further over time.
